I still need your help, more facts to consider

    Hello everyone!

I am really sorry that I haven't been available to surf the 'net or have new entries for a while. I really need your help about "the ladies" and I have an update that has me even more upset.

When beloved left for work nearly two weeks ago, I stopped by M's house after calling first as usual and stopped by for a visit on Tuesday, September 18th. I knew that M's nephew (from her husband's brother) was going to be there for a visit and I had some questions for him but that all went out the window when I showed up. Beloved and I live directly behind R's house so when I called first, R answered the phone and said come right over. In the three minutes that it took me to walk over, R invited me in to meet M's grandson. I had to correct her and say, "don't you mean nephew? He was sitting in the kitchen with M and he looks just like a younger version of M's husband and this was the first time I met him. Very long story short, it was a bizarre visit for him for the past four days before I arrived and my greeting from R was just part of the problem.

I was visiting the ladies just a few weeks ago and they were pretty much okay but this change was too fast and weird; the night got even weirder. I had already worked nine hours and was tired and just thought I was going to just have a nice visit like usual but..

The four of us tried to have a normal conversation but R kept asking me every five minutes how did it go at work and how was beloved. I looked over at A (nephew) and he asked me to take a ride to have me show him where something was that M was telling him about. As soon as we got out to his rental car and drove down the street a couple of houses, we both interrupted each other with the same question; the gardener. Now remember I have never laid eyes on A, just learned about him a month ago so that was eerie. The first thing out of his mouth to me was what's the deal with the gardener and why does he have a key to their house? It turned out that R called M's house four times in a few hours to ask the same three questions; "How are the ladies, what can I do to help and when are you leaving?" That last question was the biggest red flag to him which prompted him to ask a ton of questions about this crook. When I told him about how he managed to get the ladies to fire their gardener that they have had for fifteen years and then got them to change the locks to their house and make sure that it was only one key for both homes and didn't tell me about it, his blood pressure shot way up. He was glad to hear though that I have the only key to the den (home office) since I won't give R the spare key anymore, that made him relax a bit. It turns out though that the ladies decided on their own to buy a brand new washer, dryer and dishwasher without my help on August 30th and I just found out about it nearly a month later. They don't know how to use the washer, decided there was something wrong with the dryer and had it sitting in the garage but installed the dishwasher. The entire kitchen is a cream color that is also known as bisque, but the dishwasher is stainless steel. So of course, it stands out like a sore thumb. Then there are the bills that we found unpaid in several stacks in the kitchen and on her nightstand. I ended up being there for six hours with a huge headache. I know them a lot better than the nephew since he hasn't seen them or spoke to them in so long. I found out that the electric, water, phone were about to be shut off and found the receipt from Sears for the appliancesand decided that would be where I would start. I got R to sign three checks for the electric, water and phone and made up my mind that I would correct the horrible wrong that Sears did as well since M was so upset that she didn't know how to use them and that I made her aware that since she opened a credit card to pay for these, they were charging 25% interest!!

So I paid those bills and then went to Sears after work the next day armed with all of the paperwork that showed a total of $1339 was charged. I walked into the department and asked the first salesman to get me the manager of the department right now. He was instantly upset that he did something but I asured him it was something that occured earlier and only the manager could help. When she came about two minutes later with a big smile, she would have no idea what I was about to "hit her" with. I simply told her "that my 85 year-old aunt came into your store three weeks ago and purchased a washer and dryer and she has dementia. I want a complete refund and here is the receipt." Without saying another word, she said, "let's go find the salesman and we will take care of it right now." The salesman actually remembered both M and R and said that they seemed to know what they wanted and he didn't realize the medical condition. M only ended up losing the $65 for the delivery and I scheduled the pick up of the items two days later when I could be there.

I went to M's house the next day and she looked at me and nearly started crying; she was waiting for someone to rescue her and didn't know how to get out of it. What's so weird is that M is more lucid without R around and her memory is better as well but she is two years older. I have been going through other bills and am trying to get her caught up so A can take over. He will be talking to the attorney that M's husband set up for her trust to take care of her when he was gone (that's been 7 years now) and try to get everthing back on track. The next step will be to find them a good assisted living apartment for the two of them to share and I already have some places I have checked out but since I am not family, I will pass them onto A when it's time.

When I spoke to A yesterday, he told me something that really upset me that he forgot to tell me when that crook spoke to him during one of those four phone calls that day. It seems that that crook told A that he is working on being their caretaker and will be moving into M's house so it will be easier for him to be the caretaker and the gardener at the church since he just recently got divorced. That was all I had to hear. I am worried that he may have had one of both of them sign over of quit claim something over to him and that don't know or worse remember they did it.

Please, someone give me your ideas on what to do or who else to talk to before my head explodes!

She doesn't seem to have a clue!

    Hello everyone!

This girl sure doesn't seem to have a clue or care about those babies does she?

Not long after Britney Spears married Kevin Federline in September of 2004, she wrote in one of her infamous Letters of Truth that motherhood is a lot like cooking -- "to be really good at it, you don't need instructions. You kind of just go on instinct and what feels right."

But on Tuesday, a judge confirmed the rock bottom-nearing tabloid topper's maternal instincts are lacking. After calling out her alleged "habitual, frequent and continuous" use of controlled substances and alcohol, he ordered her to submit to twice-weekly random drug tests and get a crash course in Parenting 101 in order to retain joint custody of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

So, how did Britney react to the court's very serious smack-down, which came amid the hasty exit of both her lawyer and her manager?

If you guessed, "By spending a quiet night at home leafing through a stack of Dr. Spock books while sipping chamomile tea," you have grossly underestimated her capacity for self-sabotage and inability to understand cause and effect.

A few hours after the judge's ruling, TMZ.com caught up with the VMA-bombing, reality-rejecting starlet, 25, as she club-hopped in Los Angeles.

The usual swarm of paparazzi tracked her as she popped by hot spot Winston's, where she was seen with Avril Lavigne and pal Alli Sims, before moving on to Hyde Lounge.

"They kept bringing [Spears] shots and so they were drinking," a Hyde spy tells People. "She was dancing on the tables trying to be really sexy, even putting a black sock over her head as a hat, and putting on a show for everyone."

(Another of the mag's moles saw Brit in proximity to booze but didn't spot her drinking.)

The shutterbugs also fed the pitiable popster's craving for attention earlier in the day, when she stopped by a convenience store for an ice cream bar.

Photogs crowded around as Spears, sporting a pair of smart-girl glasses that failed to distract from the follicular horror on her head, daintily gobbled up the frozen treat (see said daintiness above).

Not surprisingly, her troubles are once again splashed across the cover of Us Weekly, which this week features a forlorn Sean Preston next to the gloomy headline, "Britney's Darkest Hour: Mommy's Crying."

According to the mag, Spears' all too apparent issues are taking a toll on her sons, who endured "heartbreaking" birthdays last week (even more worrying: the judge felt it necessary to forbid Spears and Federline from using "corporal punishment" with the tykes "and from allowing anyone else to do so").

"Dealing with the kids after they come back from Britney's is really hard on Kevin," maintains a K-Fed confidante. "It takes him three days to get them back on any type of schedule."

Spears, who once called motherhood "the closest thing to God" and proclaimed that "to be a really good mom ... your child needs to be your full time job," has also been ordered to spend eight hours a week meeting with a "parenting coach," something that will likely come as a relief to a chatty "family source."

"She loves her children so much, but it's like she's never been taught how to properly take care of them," the snitch posits to Us, adding that even when she holds her sons close, something is off. "She looks lifeless. It's like she doesn't understand the impact of being a mother."

Meanwhile, Spears' sad, destructive spiral was a topic of discussion this week during Justin Timberlake's sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, who asked for the skinny on his long-ago ex.

"I don't know, to be honest with you. I haven't spoken to her in years," sidestepped the chart-topper, who is currently dating the baggage-free Jessica Biel. "I mean, there's no ill will -- I have nothing but love for her. It's funny because we dated each other at a time ... wow, I haven't talked about this in a long time. It's interesting."

At the Big O's hard-to-refuse urging, Timberlake continued to reminisce, pointing out how young they were when they were together and reiterating how they no longer occupy the same orbit.

"We were teenagers, you know?" he says. "I think that's basically the best way to describe what happened to us. I think she's a great person, and I don't know her as well as I did."

At least Justin offers Britney some kind words to cling to -- and aspire to -- in this so-called "darkest hour": "What I do know about her is she has a huge heart, and she is a great person."

    Do you believe him?

    Hello everyone!

    So what do you think?

    Dan Rather

Dan Rather filed a $70 million lawsuit against CBS and his former bosses Wednesday, claiming they made him a “scapegoat” for a discredited story about President Bush’s military service during the Vietnam War.

The 75-year-old Rather, whose final months were clouded by controversy over the story, said the actions of the defendants damaged his reputation and cost him significant financial loss.

The lawsuit, filed in state Supreme Court in Manhattan, claims the network intentionally botched the aftermath of the story about Bush’s time in the Texas Air National Guard and had Rather take the fall to “pacify” the White House. He was removed from his job at “CBS Evening News” in March 2005.

Besides CBS Corp., the suit names former CBS parent company Viacom Inc., CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves, Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, and Andrew Heyward, former president of CBS News. The suit seeks $20 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages.

“These complaints are old news, and this lawsuit is without merit,” said CBS spokesman Dana McClintock. Viacom had no comment.

Rather narrated a September 2004 report saying that Bush had disobeyed orders and shirked some of his duties during his National Guard service and that a commander felt pressured to sugarcoat Bush’s record.

In his lawsuit, Rather maintains that the story was true, but that if any aspect of the broadcast wasn’t accurate, he was not responsible for the errors.

The story relied on four documents, supposedly written by Bush’s commander in the Texas Air National Guard, the late Lt. Col. Jerry Killian. Critics questioned the documents’ authenticity and suggested they were forged.

A CBS review determined the story was neither fair nor accurate. CBS fired the story’s producer and asked for the resignation of three executives because it could not authenticate documents used in the story, and Rather was forced out of the anchor chair he had occupied for 24 years.

Rather’s lawsuit says he was forced to apologize, although “as defendants well knew, even if any aspect of the broadcast had not been accurate, which has never been established, Mr. Rather was not responsible for any such errors.”

By making Rather apologize publicly, “CBS intentionally caused the public and the media to attribute CBS’ alleged bungling of the episode to Mr. Rather,” the lawsuit claimed. As a result, some news media called the event “Rathergate.”

He also claimed that after removing him as anchor of the “CBS Evening News,” the network gave him fewer and less important assignments and little airtime on “60 Minutes” and “60 Minutes II.”

At the time, Rather was making $6 million a year, the lawsuit says.

Rather claimed in the suit that his departure was ultimately caused by Viacom Chairman Redstone, who found it best for the company to curry favor with the Bush administration by damaging Rather. An “enraged” Redstone said the newsman and anyone associated with him had to go, according to the lawsuit.

Richard Thornburgh, the former U.S. attorney general who made up the two-man investigative panel with Louis D. Boccardi, the retired chief executive of The Associated Press, said he was unaware of Rather’s lawsuit.

Reached at his home in Washington, Thornburgh said only: “Our report speaks for itself.”

Boccardi did not return messages left by The Associated Press.

Issued in January 2005, the 224-page report portrayed Rather as “pushed to the limit” with other stories at the time of the “60 Minutes Wednesday” report. He relied on a trusted producer and didn’t check the story for accuracy or, apparently, even see it before he introduced it on the program, the panel said.

CBS rushed the story on the air and then blindly defended it when holes became apparent, said the panel, which was unable to say conclusively whether memos disparaging Bush’s service were real or fake.

The fired CBS News producer, Mary Mapes, later wrote that the panel’s examination of the story “read more like a prosecutorial brief than an independent investigation.” Her book surrounding the controversy was published in 2005.

Rather, who didn’t return messages Wednesday, worked at CBS News starting in 1962, then replaced Walter Cronkite in 1981 as “CBS Evening News” anchorman until signing off March 9, 2005.

He always considered himself a reporter first, and the habit of news anchors to travel to the scene of big stories is largely his legacy. His interview with Saddam Hussein in 2003 was the last given by the Iraqi leader before he was toppled.

With his intense on-air demeanor, Rather also had his detractors, and his broadcast was a distant third in the evening news ratings when he stepped down. CBS News’ ratings rebounded under short-term successor Bob Schieffer, but they have plummeted under Katie Couric, who took over the broadcast in September 2006.

Rather has moved on to a weekly news show on cable’s HDNet channel, “Dan Rather Reports,” but the effort has garnered little attention. When the show launched, it was available in only 4 million homes, a small fraction of his potential audience while at CBS.

O.J. Simpson arrested in alleged robbery

Former football star faces multiple felony charges in memorabilia incident

LAS VEGAS - O.J. Simpson was arrested Sunday and faces multiple felony charges in an alleged armed robbery of collectors involving the former football great’s sports memorabilia, authorities said.

Prosecutors were planning to charge Simpson with two counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and coercion, said Clark County District Attorney David Roger.

A conviction on the most serious charge, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, could bring a sentence of three to 35 years for each count, he said. A judge ordered Simpson held without bail, police said.

“He is facing a lot of time,” Roger said.

Simpson was being transferred to a detention center for booking, Dillon said. Dillon said he did not know whether Simpson would be able to post bail and be released Sunday.

“He was very cooperative, there were no issues,” Dillon said.

At least one other person has been arrested and police said Sunday that they were searching for four others in connection with the alleged armed robbery that occurred in a room inside the Palace Station casino-hotel on Thursday.

Police Lt. Clint Nichols said Simpson invoked his right to an attorney immediately after being arrested.

Simpson, 60, has said he and other people with him were retrieving items that belonged to him. Simpson has said there were no guns involved and that he went to the room at the casino only to get stolen mementos that included his Hall of Fame certificate and a picture of the running back with J. Edgar Hoover.

Simpson told The Associated Press on Saturday that he did not call the police to help reclaim the items because he has found the police unresponsive to him ever since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, were killed in 1994.

“The police, since my trouble, have not worked out for me,” he said, noting that whenever he has called the police “It just becomes a story about O.J.”

The Heisman Trophy winner, ex-NFL star and actor lives near Miami and has been a tabloid staple since his ex-wife and Goldman were killed in 1994. Simpson was acquitted of murder charges, but a jury later held him liable for the killings in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Police said two firearms and other evidence were seized at a private residence early Sunday.

Walter Alexander, 46, of Arizona, was arrested Saturday night on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary with a deadly weapon.

He was released without bail on Saturday night, Dillon said.

Besides the two firearms, police said they seized other evidence during early morning searches of two residences, Lt. Clint Nichols said.

“It was evidence of a crime that was committed,” Nichols said. “And I believe we recovered some clothing that the individual was wearing in the commission of the robbery.”

Simpson said auction house owner Tom Riccio called him several weeks ago to say some collectors were selling some of his items. Riccio set up a meeting with collectors under the guise that he had a private collector interested in buying Simpson’s items.

Simpson said he was accompanied by several men he met at a wedding cocktail party, and they took the collectibles.

Alfred Beardsley, one of the sports memorabilia collectors involved in the alleged robbery, has said he wants the case dropped and that he’s “on O.J.’s side.”

Nichols said police had a responsibility to investigate how the collectibles were taken, regardless of who they belong to.

“We don’t believe that anybody was roughed up, but there were firearms involved in the commission of the robbery,” he said.

Simpson’s arrest came just days after the Goldman family published a book that Simpson had written under the title, “If I Did It,” about how he would have committed the killings of his ex-wife and Goldman had he actually done it.

After a deal for Simpson to publish it fell through, a federal bankruptcy judge awarded the book’s rights to the Goldman family, who retitled it “If I Did It: The Confessions of the Killer.” On Sunday, the book was the hottest seller in the country, hitting No. 1 on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.

    Now I have heard everything!

    Hello everyone!

Now even better than casual Friday...

Welcome to the new Russian game show, Let’s Make a Baby!  Win a fabulous appliance, or maybe even a new home!  Small print: win or lose, you have to keep the baby…

It turns out, the governor of a Russian province has urged couples to skip work today and make love instead, to help boost a low birth-rate. And, if a woman gives birth in exactly nine months, she will qualify for a prize, maybe even a new home. I am not making this up.

“It’s normally something for the home - a fridge or a television set,” the Ulyanovsk regional press office said. I guess to show they’re keeping up with all those cutting edge, progressive, new millennium ideas, the press person added, “It doesn’t matter if it’s a girl or a boy.”

    I need your help please!

    Hello everyone!

I know it’s been awhile since I have had an entry, so I decided before everyone ran away I better have another one.

Life has been very busy both personally and professionally and I decided to vent a bit about personal stuff here and now.

“The ladies” have been doing okay for a long time but I now have reason for concern and want to ask you a question; since I have been working full-time for nearly a year now (unreal but mid October will be a year!) I haven’t had time to see them as much as we want to. When my mom was here, we went over for a few visits and the last one had a disturbing part to it. As we were literally walking to the front door to leave, M. the older sister who has money left by her husband who died about six years ago mentioned in passing something to my mom. When we got outside, she told me her concerns and that’s what I want some guidance on please.

This wonderful woman has money and in the garage sits her husband’s CadillacÔ for the past six years. She doesn’t drive and hasn’t thought much about doing anything about it since I asked her about six months ago. Then suddenly the gardener who I have had an entry about and don’t trust him as far as I could throw him, is getting closer to the ladies and acts very strange when I come by.

Anyway, the disturbing part to the story is that M. told my mom who was standing closer to her than I was said that the gardener was planning on buying her car. The good news is that he can’t since months ago when I came across the pink slip while I was helping M. clean out the den  (the home office) I found it. I asked her permission to take it to our home until we could get to the bank to place it into the safe deposit box. Well, long story short, M. has never made it back to the bank for various reasons, none of which because of my full time job. So there is no way that the CadillacÔ can be sold legally without it. This guy seemed like a nice guy but when he realized that M. especially has money and is getting forgetful, hatched his long-term plan. First this is the guy who is the gardener at our local church where I have my neighborhood watch meetings and is also a deacon in the church. He and I have known each other for years and I had an uneasy feeling about him for years but couldn’t “put my finger on it” until the last couple of months. Suddenly both of the ladies front door locks were changed and only he has a key instead of me for emergencies. I didn’t know about this for nearly six months when there was an occasion to actually use my key at M’s house when she didn’t answer the phone and I was freaking out. I have asked both of the ladies what happened to the locks that I had a trusted locksmith replace after M’s house was broken into. They sheepishly said that they lost a key and their “friend” gave them a solution to their problem; let MY locksmith who doesn’t even have a license, to change both locks and wouldn’t it be easier to have just one key to both homes? Of course, they don’t learn that this locksmith isn’t trusted and decided that having one key would be a good idea. The bigger problem for me is that the gardener has a key to both homes and knows their schedules and that R. sleeps at M’s house every night.

I don’t know how to approach these very sweet, trusting ladies to stop this criminal from staying in their lives. I mean, he now does their lawns by knocking down their regular gardener for six months he got them to fire their long time gardener and replace that guy with himself. He also drops by with wilted flowers from the church that should be thrown into the garbage instead to M’s house, makes sure that any minor things that need done that I do for them, he finds the time to be there so let me, makes sure that he mows the church lawn at a time when he can watch their homes, mows their lawns when they are at the hairdresser.

I wish that I could just tell them this guy is a crook and should be in jail as well as tell the Pastor at the church about my concerns, but I don’t have physical proof. What should I do guys?

    This is really weird

    Peek inside my job

    Hello everyone!

It’s been a while since I posted anything about my adults so here we go. As you know, I need to keep this pretty generic but everything I write is 100% true!

My boss has given me the job of being the first person to train the new adults in the community which I have grown so much more business-wise and personally. I tell every one of my adults that they must keep their eyes and ears open but their mouth shut and they will learn something everyday. It’s something that I practice and it’s served me well.

The first person that I want to share with you is this one adult that I have nicknamed “Miss Troublemaker” but not for the reasons that you might think. She has been working for nearly two months now and the last week was pretty cool so I will share that with you. Most of her job is maintenance but she is also supposed to keep her eye on anything suspicious and let management know about it.

She was cleaning the mirrors in the men’s department since she had finished everything else on her list. She remembered what I taught her and I was about three feet behind her when “it” happened. She turned around quietly and said that there was a man who just stole something and what do I do now? We were near the fitting room, so I told her to quietly tell the fitting room attendant what she witnessed. The guy realized right away what happened and started walking quickly to the exit doors. We had a great description of the guy but since Loss Prevention didn’t see him do it and couldn’t catch up to him before he left, we thought all was lost. But the guy felt like he was invincible and returned not ten minutes later. We found what the guy stole; a $8 child’s tee shirt with Spiderman screened on it and when he saw my adult again, he turned around and just left the store. She had this huge grin on her face that she stopped him from coming back and pointed out for a manager that happened to be right there what he looked like so in case he came back, his face would be remembered.

Then there was last Friday evening. She had just finished safety sweeping the store and was going to see if they needed any help with cleaning the rear restrooms. There was some excitement with several managers surrounding a young black kid wearing the now standard baggy pants and his boxer shorts showing. He was having an argument with the female manager that he didn’t do anything. Well, this punk had a partner who thought he could just walk away without being noticed. This idiot had to be tackled to the ground and merchandise just fell out of his baggy pants. What happened was Miss Troublemaker’s friend was getting ready to clean the women’s restroom and noticed something wrong when these two idiots went into the men’s room with big bulges in their pants (Get your thoughts out of the gutter, Kat!) and they stayed in there for more than ten minutes. She called a manager to report her suspicions (I trained her best friend as well) and the next thing you know two big male managers suddenly walked in to “use” the restroom and startled the punks in the process of trying to score big. It ended up that they scooped up a bunch of PlaystationÒ paraphernalia that added up to several hundred dollars so these fifteen-year-old punks will be serving time. They hid the original empty packages into the seat covers in the bathroom stalls as well as the trashcan.

So next time you think you can get away with something at one of the places that I trained my adults at, think again!

    Something beloved would do

    Hello everyone!

I found this story that made me think of beloved, he would have done this if given the opportunity.

Truckers form rolling roadblock, help Oregon police end chase

    Associated Press

Last update: September 03, 2007 – 7:45 PMBIGGS, Ore. — Three commercial truck drivers put on the brakes to help police stop a man who led authorities on a high-speed chase for more than 50 miles.

The truckers pulled alongside each other and slowed to about 5 mph, forming a rolling roadblock. The fleeing driver stopped and fled on foot but was quickly captured, authorities said.

Trucker Edwin Beach said he had heard police radio traffic and said, "OK, where's the high-speed chase at?" He coordinated with two other drivers over CB and placed his truck in the middle on Interstate 84.

"We were all kind of laughing because he was running down the freeway," said Beach, of Kelso, Wash. Identities of the other two truckers were not immediately available.

The chase began Saturday near Boardman and ended near the John Day Dam on the Columbia River about 100 miles east of Portland, police said. Speeds during the chase exceeded 100 mph.

The fleeing car had been reported to have been involved in a hit-and-run.

    Wouldn't his mom be proud?

    Hello everyone!

I found a story about a good student going wild, wouldn't his mom be proud?

    |

200-streaker.jpeg It’s a peaceful lunch period at Westerville North High School in Ohio… when suddenly out of nowhere comes a crazed naked student flailing his arms and screaming!

After scaring students, the streaking student (Taylor Killian, 18) is discovered by a patrolling officer who attempts to take him down (which didn’t prove so easy because Killian had lubed himself up with gradeseed oil).

Killian is finally taken down with 2 zaps of a stun gun and charged with inducing panic, public indecency, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

The strange things is that when interviewed school officials said Killian was a good student with no indication of substance abuse or a medical problem.

    I never would have thought

    Hello everyone!

I never would have thought this would have happened to him but it did. I hope that he will be okay soon.

Gaunt Owen Wilson returns home under 24 hour watch

    Last updated September 03 2007

Owen Wilson was driven home from hospital yesterday after his suicide bid - and said he was happy that he had been "saved from himself."

But the 38-year-old actor, who took an overdose and slashed his wrists, is said to still be in “bad mental shape” and is on round-theclock suicide watch.

As he emerged from his car clutching a book at his Santa Monica home, the Wedding Crashers star looked dishevelled and puffy-eyed.

Back home: Owen Wilson arrives at his Santa Monica residence a week after attempting to take his own life.

His brother, actor Luke, has been constantly by his side, along with their other brother Andrew, 43, who found Owen unconscious with cut wrists and an empty pill box by his bed a week ago.

Their father Robert has also been looking after him.

A source said: "Owen is in bad mental shape but he has said he is thankful to be alive. He knows he came close to ending his own life, and he is happy that he was saved from himself.

Discharged: Owen's family drove the exhausted looking star home from hospital."He is at home with people watching him 24/7."

Wilson was said to be devastated after splitting with his girlfriend and former co-star Kate Hudson, and then seeing pictures of her kissing her new love, actor Dax Shepherd.

Wilson, who has long battled a drug habit, was treated at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was visited by friends including Woody Harrelson and director Wes Anderson.

Heartbreak: Owen Wilson's split from actress Kate Hudson was reportedly a factor in his downward spiral.

Doctors are satisfied he is coping with the trauma as long as he is watched by those close to him.

He has pulled out of his next project, Tropic Thunder - in which he would have starred with his friend Ben Stiller - so that he has time to recuperate.

Wilson's usual screen persona is that of an affable charmer who wins over the girls and boozes with the boys.

Wilson's friend Courtney Love blamed actor Steve Coogan for supplied Wilson with drugs - an allegation that Coogan vehemently denies and has threatened to take legal action.

The actor was due to appear at the Venice Film Festival for the world premiere of his latest comedy The Darjeeling Limited.

Instead he sent a message saying he wished he could be there.

At the beginning of a press conference to discuss the film, director Wes Anderson - one of Wilson's close friends - spoke about the actor.

Anderson said: "Before we start I just want to take a moment to say how excited I am to have a film showing here in Venice, it means a great deal to me and it also means a great deal to Owen, who wants me to express to you how excited he is to have a movie here.

"He wishes he could be here in Venice with all of you now. We all miss having him here with us.

"Obviously he has been through quite a lot this week. I can tell you he has been doing very well, he has been making us laugh. When he's ready he's going to speak for himself much better than any of us could. He has got a very good way with words.

"In the meantime, I would like to ask you to help us to protect his privacy and to respect his wishes."

Wilson's co-stars Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray were in Venice to promote The Darjeeling Limited without him.

The comic tale tells the story of three brothers - Wilson, Schwartzman and Brody - who set off on a train journey across India.

Wilson plays the older brother, Francis, who organizes the trip in a bid to lead the trio on a spiritual quest and heal their fractured relationship.

Brody recalled how Wilson was great fun to work with on the film.

"Owen has a tremendous sense of humour and he's very mischievous. I would say it was a brotherly thing, we were constantly trying to get into trouble and trip each other up. It was really a pleasure to work with him. He's also an incredibly talented actor," Brody said.

"It was an incredible experience working with Owen and Jason. I didn't feel like I was working on this film - we worked hard, all of us, but it was a life experience for me. Sharing it with these guys was really special and I will not forget it."

Man taking a nap near big rig is run over, killed

A 52-year-old man who may have been trying to get out of the sun died Saturday afternoon when he took a nap behind the rear tires of a tractor-trailer and was run over.

Dennis J. Nez, a Tucson resident, was found dead just north of a bus stop at East 36th Street and South Country Club Road shortly after 1:30 p.m., said Officer Frank Amado, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Nez had taken a bus to the area with his wife and a friend but decided he wanted to rest there at the stop while the two women walked to a nearby business.

That bus stop does not have a bench or an awning and it appears that Nez may have been trying to find some shade when he fell asleep near the wheels of a large semi that was parked and left running near the stop.

However, when the tractor-trailer left, it drove over Nez and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Amado said.

"Detectives need to locate and speak with the driver of the semi truck who may not be aware he drove over Mr. Nez," Amado said.

The high in Tucson on Saturday was 104 degrees, the National Weather Service says.
The tractor-trailer was described as white toward the upper half and orange toward the bottom, Amado said.

    Update about Justin!!

    Hello everyone!

I wanted to share some of what happened while my Mom was here visiting for two months.

The best and sad thing that happened was that I was finally able to see Justin in person for two days just a few weeks ago! I haven’t developed the film yet but it was a bittersweet visit. You see, the biggest reason I was able to see Justin and his mom was to see her other son. N. decided even with watching what happened to his big brother, he too was going to join the Marine Corp. He was here in CA to finish his schooling and now his duty station is back on the East Coast so it will be a long time before I will be able to see either nephew and/or my sister for a while now.

I was able to get a few days off from work to have a proper visit and my heart rose and I couldn’t keep back the tears of joy to see Justin in uniform greeting me on base when we arrived. We needed to have a sponsor to allow us on base and I honestly thought it was going to be N. instead but there was Justin beaming when he saw the van. He was in uniform and I nearly lost it since I was the one who was driving. But I recovered quickly and he guided me to the building to get our day pass (not realizing that I was here two weeks before to see just N.) and start to enjoy our visit properly.

His brother, N. was the star so to speak since he was the host and the reason that all of us could be together again in one place. So we did what he wanted when he wanted basically. He was hungry like always and wanted to go off base first to enjoy a nice meal so we all decided to go to a really nice restaurant that the three of us (N., my Mom and myself) were at two weeks prior and had a really nice meal. Now I haven’t actually seen Justin in person for several years because of logistics of living on different coasts and Justin chose to sit right next to me during our meal. Because he still has no use of his left arm and his left side drags when he walks (he uses a cane for long distances) I wondered how he would be able to enjoy eating in public but I had no reason to worry. All of us had a very nice meal and then N. suggested something that I didn’t feel 100% was a good idea but I ended up having nothing to worry about.

He wanted to go bowling! Now I was told that I am not supposed to do a lot of things one of which is to go bowling because of my neck of course so I was just going to watch. Justin on the other hand said he was going to so as long as he could do it, I was going to do it. I nearly lost it 100 times over to see the two brothers interact at the bowling alley. We were given lucky lane number 7 and it was lucky for all of us. My mom was first, I was second, Justin was third, N. was fourth, and my sister (their mom) was last because that’s the order that N. decided on. When it was time for me to bowl, I was nervous. I haven’t bowled in nearly fifteen years and I kept remembering what my doctors told me. I decided that the best answer was to just be as careful as I could and I’m sure I looked funny but the first frame, I actually was able to knock down four pins! When Justin got up to bowl his first frame, I did quietly start to cry. He cannot use his left arm at all and so he took a sixteen pound ball, flipped it up in his right hand until it felt comfortable to him and then tossed it down the alley. He managed to get a couple of pins knocked down during the first frame and over the course of the game, was actually able to get three strikes!! And this is without the bumpers either! He ended up getting a score of 85, which is amazing to me and when I was having some trouble with my neck, he stood up and quietly asked me if I was okay to keep bowling because he could see that I was hurting. I just told him that I would bowl as long as you can. We can be careful and have fun just like everyone else and that’s what I plan to do. We both had to be careful not to cry right then and there in front of God and everyone at the bowling alley. He is a very proud man and he never seizes to surprise me.

We really had a wonderful visit but I need to close this entry for now because it’s hard to see to type through the tears that are flowing as I remember our wonderful visit again.

Please don’t lurk and leave your comments. Justin really needs to hear that people are thinking of him and his younger brother.

The story that wouldn't go away

    Hello everyone!

Sen. Craig Resigns Over Sex Sting

    By JOHN MILLER
    Associated Press Writers

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- In a subdued ending to a week of startling political theater, Sen. Larry Craig announced his resignation Saturday, bowing to pressure from fellow Republicans worried about damage from his arrest and guilty plea in a gay sex sting.

"I apologize for what I have caused," Craig said, his wife Suzanne and two of their three children at his side with a historic Boise train station as backdrop. "I am deeply sorry."

Craig, 62, said he would resign effective Sept. 30, ending a career in Congress spanning a quarter-century.

Making no specific mention of the incident that triggered his disgrace in his remarks, he spoke for under six minutes and took no questions.

Among those attending was Republican Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter, who will appoint a successor for the remaining 15 months of Craig's term.

It was a relatively quick end to a drama that began Monday with the stunning disclosure that Craig had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge following his arrest June 11 in a Minneapolis airport men's room.

Craig at first tried to hold on to his position, contending in a public appearance on Tuesday that he had done nothing inappropriate and that his only mistake was pleading guilty Aug. 1 to the misdemeanor charge. But a growing chorus of leading GOP leaders called for him to step down to spare the party further embarrassment and possible harm in next year's elections.

Otter said Saturday he has not chosen a replacement, although several Republicans familiar with internal deliberations said he favored Republican Lt. Gov. Jim Risch.

Otter called speculation that he has made a choice "dead wrong" and declined to say when he would fill the seat.

Craig said he would remain in the Senate until Sept. 30 in hopes of providing a smooth transition for his staff and whoever is chosen as his successor.

President Bush called Craig from the White House after the senator's announcement and told him he knew it was a difficult decision to make, said White House spokesman Scott Stanzel.

"Senator Craig made the right decision for himself, for his family, his constituents and the United States Senate," Stanzel said.

Craig was arrested June 11 in a police undercover vice operation. The arresting officer, Sgt. Dave Karsnia, said in his report that the restroom where he encountered Craig is a known location for homosexual activity.

Craig has faced rumors about his sexuality since the 1980s. He has called assertions that he has engaged in gay sex ridiculous.

"I am not gay. I never have been gay," Craig said defiantly after a news conference Tuesday. He said he had kept the incident from aides, friends and family and pleaded guilty "in hopes of making it go away."

Other lawmakers embroiled in sex scandals also have resigned from Congress, albeit usually at the end of scenarios that took longer to play out than the one that claimed Craig.

Former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., quit last fall over sexually explicit Internet communications with male pages who had worked on Capitol Hill.

Sen. Bob Packwood, R-Ore., resigned in 1995 amid allegations he had made unwanted sexual advances to 17 female employees and colleagues and altered his personal diaries to obstruct an ethics investigation.

On Saturday, Craig said he would pursue legal options to clear his name. He has retained Billy Martin, a Washington lawyer who represented Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick in his dogfighting case, to pursue his legal options. Washington lawyer Stan Brand will represent Craig before the Senate ethics committee, said spokesman Dan Whiting.

"The people of Idaho deserve a senator who can devote 100 percent of his time and effort to the critical issues of our state and of our nation," Craig said. "I have little control over what people choose to believe. But clearly my name is important to me, and my family is so very important also."

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Craig "made a difficult decision, but the right one."

"It is my hope he will be remembered not for this, but for his three decades of dedicated public service," McConnell said. McConnell had been one of Craig's harshest critics, calling his actions "unforgivable."

Some Idaho residents who attended Craig's public resignation said it felt like a "political funeral."

Bayard Gregory, from Boise, said Craig should have been more forthright after his arrest.

"It's a horribly embarrassing experience to go through," Gregory said. "But if it were me, and I had done nothing wrong, I wouldn't have pleaded guilty."

Craig spokesman Sidney Smith said he did not know whether Craig would return to Washington on Tuesday, the start of the post-Labor Day congressional session.

"We haven't decided that yet, whether he's going to return or not," Smith said.

Craig represented Idaho in Congress for more than a quarter-century, including 17 years in the Senate. He was up for re-election next year.

Republicans, worried about the scandal's effect on next year's election, suffered a further setback Friday when veteran Republican Sen. John Warner of Virginia announced he will retire rather than seek a sixth term. Democrats captured Virginia's other Senate seat from the GOP in the 2006 election.

Craig opposes gay marriage and has a strong record against gay rights. He was a leading voice in the Senate on gun issues and Western lands. Craig chaired the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and was a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, where he was adept at securing federal money for Idaho projects.

A fiscal and social conservative, Craig sometimes broke with his party, notably on immigration, where he pushed changes that many in his party said offered "amnesty" to illegal immigrants. Much of the impetus behind Craig's push to ease bureaucratic hurdles to immigrant farm workers stemmed from his background as a rancher and the state's large rural, farming community.

    Thieves steal from toilets

DANIA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Here's a little-known fact about toilet flush valves:

    They're apparently quite valuable.

Three people are being held on charges of stealing about $2,000 worth of brass toilet flush valves from park and restaurant bathrooms around Broward County. Police say the three were found with receipts from a metal scrap yard in their car.

Removing the valves means people can't flush the toilets. Replacing them costs hundreds of dollars.

Officials say global shortages of copper, aluminum, nickel and other materials has driven up the demand and prices for all metals. Throughout South Florida, numerous bronze vases on headstones and brass devices that prevent backflow on water lines are also believed to have been stolen and sold as scrap metal.

    Top Traffic myths

    Hello everyone!

I guess everyone is still away for the long weekend, but I found another story to share.

    8 top traffic-ticket myths

Much of what you've heard isn't true. But this is: If an officer asks if you know why you were pulled over, the answer is a very polite 'no.'

Drivers of red cars get more tickets. If you don't sign a ticket, the case will be dropped.

If the officer gets your hair color wrong on the ticket, you'll win.

Such stories relating to traffic tickets abound, but drivers and defendants will find that few of them are true.

The best advice is to simply to obey the law, know that rules and procedures vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, and not count on urban myths when you hope to escape a ticket -- or its consequences.

    Myth No. 1

If the officer makes a single mistake on your ticket, the case will be dropped.

A ticket should be seen as an accusatory instrument and a basis for prosecution that must be factually valid, says Matisyahu Wolfberg, an attorney and former police officer from Spring Valley, N.Y., who represents defendants in traffic cases.

Clerical mistakes, such as a wrong number or wrong order of a person's name, are usually overlooked. Material mistakes, like the identity of the driver, the direction of travel, the street where the citation occurred or the description of the vehicle, can usually help a driver win the case.

"Any mistakes that involve who, where and how usually can be used to beat the case in a trial. If the description of the vehicle is inaccurate, the officer will usually lose," says Wolfberg.

He recalls one recent case in which the officer cited a white Mercedes when the defendant was actually driving a black Porsche.

    Myth No. 2

If the officer doesn't show up in court, you automatically win.

Though this may happen in many cases, there's nothing automatic about it. Most judges will drop a case if the officer does not appear in court because defendants have a constitutional right to question their accusers.

However, in some jurisdictions, a case is scheduled at a time to help ensure the officer is present, or a judge will reschedule the case altogether. Wolfberg says that in most cases an officer not showing up will result in a dismissal, but there is no guarantee.

"It all depends on the jurisdiction, the court, the judge, the law," says Wolfberg. "Most judges feel the pain of people taking time off work and out of their lives to come to court and will dismiss if the officer doesn't show."

    Myth No. 3

    Red cars get more tickets.

Forum posters on Color Matters, a Web site that focuses on color theory and everything that color affects, claim drivers of red cars get more tickets.

There are no official studies to confirm that red cars do get more tickets, but some suggest the bold color tends to attract more attention from everyone, including police officers. There is also a theory that red cars can create an optical illusion that makes them appear to be going faster than they really are.

One myth says that insurance companies charge higher premiums for red cars. Allstate and Progressive say that a car's color has no bearing on the premiums they charge.

    Myth No. 4

You need a lawyer to beat a ticket.

You might expect most traffic-ticket attorneys to say you can't beat your own ticket. With a little time and homework, however, many people successfully fight their own traffic tickets. At the very least, first-time offenders for minor offenses can usually strike a plea bargain in most jurisdictions.

An attorney's fee will often outweigh the fines and impact of a first violation, but in states such as Texas and Florida, some law firms have entire practices dedicated to fighting tickets and can often do so at reasonable rates.

    Myth No. 5

If you get a ticket in another state, your home state won't find out about it.

The interstate Driver License Compact is an agreement between participating states that share information regarding certain types of traffic convictions. Reports on traffic violations and suspensions are forwarded to the home state of the nonresident.

There are only a handful of states that are not members of the compact.

There is also the National Driver Register, a database of information about drivers who have had their licenses revoked or suspended due to serious traffic violations. States provide the register with information about these serious offenses, and those in the database can be denied licenses in other states.

    Myth No. 6

You can make up an excuse to get out of the ticket.

Most police officers aren't interested in excuses. When an officer pulls you over, he already suspects you of an infraction. You'll have your day in court and many ways to fight the ticket.

Remember: Any explanation you give about why you were speeding is an admission that you were speeding. If an officer logs those explanations in his notes, the statements could later be used against you in court. That's why, whenever an officer asks if you know why you've been pulled over, always answer "no" and just take the ticket.

"Never admit to speeding in the process of talking," says Aaron Quinn, the communications director for the National Motorists Association. "I would say just to be polite with the officer. Reasoning with the officer is something that might help you out if you actually are on your way to the hospital. You can try talking; just don't admit guilt."

    Myth No. 7

A radar detector will ensure that you never get pulled over.

"Radar detectors give drivers a false sense of security that they can speed as much as they want without facing the consequences of breaking the law," says Ken Underwood, the president of the National Safety Commission, an organization that promotes safe driving.

But speeding drivers are also more likely to commit other infractions, and a radar detector can't tell you when a cop is watching you run that red light or make an illegal turn. Virginia and Washington, D.C., both ban the use of radar detectors, and it looks like Florida may do the same soon.

Radar-detector users often find themselves chasing new technology as law enforcement upgrades its speed-detection devices.

    Myth No. 8

If you don't sign the ticket, it will be dismissed.

Signing a ticket is not an admission of guilt. The signature is merely an acknowledgement you received the ticket and a promise to appear in court.

Refusing to sign the ticket -- and there are drivers who think that if they don't sign, they can lie in court and say they weren't there -- will do nothing but agitate the officer and invite more scrutiny.

In some states, such as Texas, refusal to sign a ticket can mean a trip to jail. Houston attorney Robert Eutsler says that if you don't sign the ticket, the officer has the choice to either take you to jail or write on the ticket "refused to sign."

"It's a promise to appear in court on a certain day -- that's all it is,'' says Eutsler. "It's certainly a myth that if you don't sign it, it's going to get dismissed. You're more likely to get arrested, and the officer is going to get very upset."
